Thursday December 17th

In class: We went on with the present tense forms and we did some practice on phonetics and we played bingo!

For homework: no homework. The next day, our last day of classes, we will sing Christmas carols and we'll learn some vocabulary about Christmas. James is coming to class!

Tuesday December 15th

In class we had the test and we presented the present tense making emphasis on the 3rd person singular.

Thursday December 10th

In class: we continued working on the Saxon genitive ('s) and we did some listening exercises from the Student's book.

For homework: do the activities about Saxon genitive from the workbook, pages 12 and 13. Of course, study for the quiz next Tuesday!!! :)

Thursday december 3rd

In class: we started unit 3 (about family) and I explained the saxon genitive 's used to express possession and family relationships. We practiced with the Spanish Royal family members.

In the second hour, we went to the Multimedia room to practice vocabulary, listening and pronunciation on the internet. We worked with the web page: www.englishclub.com

Tuesday December 1st

In class: I explained the correction online and on paper and we practised plurals, greetings, age, name, jobs and personal information. We also worked on pronunciation and vocabulary.

For homework: correct the mistakes of the compositions and re-send it to me.

Thursday November 26

In class: we commented common mistakes in the homework, We did some listening work to practice useful phrases and greetings and numbers and a little of oral practice with the age.

IMPORTANTE: prueba 1er trimestre

As most of you already know, we will have a short quiz on December 15th,not 17th as it was first agreed. There will be different sections: reading, listening, writing, grammar and vocabulary. I will try to do a brief oral test, too.

The objective of this quiz is basically to check your progress and help me to see which things I need to insist on and to work more in class, as simple as that.

There will NOT be a grade(nota numérica) only "Apto/No apto" and it will NOT count.

Tuesday November 24

Today, James talked about Thanksgiving. It was so interesting to know more details about this important American tradition.

In class: we comented and revised the homework for today (pages 8 and 9 from the workbook) and I picked all your texts about a famous person. We also practice short answers like "yes, I am" or "No, he isn't" with an oral questionnaire. Document here.

For Homework: I would like all of you to write a text about yourselves like the one of the famous person and send it to my email address: prgsevilla@yahoo.es.

Thursday November 19

In class: we corrected the homework for today and practice nationalities, professions and personal information. We worked on the verb be and possessives determiners.

For homework: exercises 1, 2, 4 and 6 from page 8 and the whole page 9 and write a small composition on a paper about a famous person giving personal details such as: name, surname, nationality, profession, age, status, family, hobbies, etc.

Tuesday November 17

In class:
We did a vocabulary test exercise and an exercise about Shrek in which we worked on phonetic transcription and spelling. Test photocopy and Shrek exercise.

For homework:
Student’s Book: Exercise 1 and 2 from page 10, exercise 1 from page 11, exercise 1 (Jobs) and 1(Focus on countries and nationalities) from page 15 and also the exercise about countries and nationalities from the photocopy given in class.

Thursday November 12

Last day we watched the film "Shrek 1" and "Shrek 2" and it was really funny although a little difficult for first year students! After the movie, we corrected the exercise about cinema vocabulary and we completed some information about this movie.

Tuesday November 10

This day, James, our American language assistant came to class. He talked about many things such as family, professions, nationalities and much more.
Also, as we are watching a movie on Thursday, it is important to know some basic vocabulary about cinema. Here you have the homework for Thursday.

Thursday November 5

We corrected homework from page 9 of the book and we did some listening activities from page 7. At the end of the class, we listened to a song and we all sang it! For homework, do the activities from pages 4 and 5 of the Workbook. You have to hand them in on Tuesday.
